We proudly support individuals and their families through our Scheme-related grants and our Access to Mobility grants.
Motability Scheme-related grants provide financial help, to Motability Scheme customers, towards the costs of leasing a suitable car or wheelchair accessible vehicle.
Each year, we provide a small number of means-tested grants to people who most need of financial help to use the Scheme.
This can include funding towards advance payments for cars, wheelchair accessible vehicles, and adaptations for drivers and passengers.
Our Access to Mobility grants provide financial help towards mobility support for disabled people, outside of the Motability Scheme. These are:
- Driving Lessons – Our grants help Scheme customers who have a provisional driving licence to learn to drive, or offer familiarisation lessons to help grant funded customers get used to adapted driving controls.
- Access to Work - The government Access to Work grants fund equipment for disabled people to use at work. Our Access to Work grant reimburses the Social and Domestic Contribution people pay to use the equipment outside of work.
- Transitional Support - This grant may be available from the Motability Foundation for customers who leave the Motability Scheme following an unsuccessful DLA to PIP reassessment, where they lose their qualifying benefits and who meet the grant criteria.
- Additional Transitional Support - This grant provides additional support to Motability Scheme customers who have to leave the Motability Scheme following an unsuccessful DLA to PIP reassessment, where they lose their qualifying benefits and face extreme financial hardship.
