As the nation celebrates Her Majesty The Queen’s Platinum Jubilee, we wanted to take a moment to reflect on the dedication and active support she has demonstrated over the years as Motability’s Chief Patron. Since the charity’s foundation when The Queen dedicated the first outside Christmas broadcast to disabled people and handed over the keys to Motability Scheme cars at Buckingham Palace, to more recent occasions such as celebrating our 40th anniversary at Windsor Castle, Motability’s employees, beneficiaries, and Scheme customers, have all shared in some special moments throughout her Majesty’s reign.
In this year’s Accession Day message, The Queen spoke of her hope that the Jubilee will bring together families and friends, neighbours and communities. Through the freedom it gives disabled people and their families, Motability has been doing this with the support of our Chief Patron for nearly 45 years.
To honour this historic occasion we are excited to share some of our many memories of The Queen, and how important her support is to the Charity.
