We are pleased to share that we have achieved the highest accreditation of Disability Confident and we now hold ‘Leader’ status here at the Motability Foundation.
What is the ‘Disability Confident’ scheme?
The Disability Confident scheme supports employers to make the most of the talents disabled people can bring to their workplace.
The scheme has three different levels, each with their own themes, challenges and actions. ‘Leader’ status is the highest an employer can achieve.
Positive feedback on current practices
We have received some incredibly positive feedback on our current practices, including:
- An excellent careers page with inclusive videos and pictures, creates an extremely welcoming impression for disabled people
- We clearly have an inclusive and accessible recruitment process with adjustments provided
- We have invested in Disability Confidence training as well as wider Diversity and Inclusion training courses
- Our policies and processes and learning and development initiatives show our commitment to an inclusive and accessible environment
- It is clear that mental health and wellbeing is a major focus for us - with a number of initiatives in place.
Continuous improvement
We have also received some helpful feedback of areas of improvement to maintain our ‘Leader’ status:
- Capturing more data across use of mental health first aiders, applications through disability specific job boards, training participation rates etc.
- Making slight adjustments to policies.
- Encouraging other organisations and suppliers that we work with the be disability confident.
Our HR Team are continually working towards making improvements to our culture for disabled members of staff.
And we’re proud to be a champion within our community when it comes to supporting everyone on their career journeys.
