The National Centre for Accessible Transport (ncat) has launched its Resource Collection, a comprehensive database that brings together 626 resource documents and projects, including research, strategies, and policy-related documents on accessible transport.
The database includes a range of research commissioned and funded by the Motability Foundation, including reports from the Royal National Institute of Blind People (RNIB) (PDF 676.7 KB) and the Wheelchair Alliance (PDF 4.1 MB), as well as our Transport Accessibility Gap report (PDF 1.6 MB). The Resource Collection will enable policymakers and professionals within the transport sector to easily access resources to help make informed, evidence-based decisions.
Database set to keep growing
The Resource Collection will be regularly updated as a live, open-source, interactive database and will allow users to search by document type, year of publication, impairment type, transport modes, region, authoring organisation, and journey stage.
This database was developed in collaboration with ncat’s Community of Accessible Transport (CAT) panel, who helped design and understand how individuals and organisations might access it.
“Accessible transport is a fundamental right”
Michael Edwards from ncat said: "We believe that accessible transport is a fundamental right.
“Our new Resource Collection is a vital tool to ensure that policymakers and professionals have the evidence they need to make transport systems more inclusive.
“We invite everyone to contribute to this growing body of knowledge and join us in our mission to create a more accessible future for all."
How to contribute to the Resource Collection
ncat is calling on the transport sector to use the knowledge available from the Resource Collection, and to collaborate with other industries.
ncat are also encouraging organisations and individuals with research, policy, or resources to contribute to the Resource Collection. If you would like to contribute, please email the website links of resources you would like to share, alongside any supporting information to info@ncat.uk.
If you are a disabled person or a transport professional interested in participating in ncat’s research, sign up for the CAT Panel.
