The MP for Harlow, Rt Hon Robert Halfon, has presented keys for a Motability Scheme car to Johanna, one of his local constituents.
The car handover took place at Bristol Street Motors Peugeot on Friday 3 November.
“I now have a car I can get into with ease, and it feels safe and comfortable.”
Johanna became increasingly reliant on her wheelchair following an accident and says the Peugeot 3008 SUV has transformed her ability to travel.
“It’s made a huge difference to my life.
“My previous car was too low down and I struggled to get in and out, which made my journeys difficult.
“I heard about the Motability Scheme through my job supporting people with learning disabilities.
“I now have a car I can get into with ease, and it feels safe and comfortable.
“I can go to my appointments and shopping once again, and I have even been able to go away with my four children which has been lovely.”
“Invaluable support to around 700,000 disabled people.”
Robert Halfon MP said “I am delighted to be presenting Johanna with the keys to her new Motability Scheme car.
“The Scheme provides invaluable support to around 700,000 disabled people like Johanna, both here in my constituency, and around the UK.
“The Motability Scheme offers an excellent package and service, and I am pleased that the Motability Foundation’s headquarters are located here in my constituency of Harlow.”
“Opportunity to show how the Scheme helps disabled people to make the journeys they choose”
Barry Le Grys, CEO of Motability Foundation, said: “Hosting this car handover in Harlow with Johanna is an opportunity to show how the Scheme helps disabled people to make the journeys they choose.
“We would like to thank Johanna for coming today, and also Robert Halfon for supporting the work of the Motability Scheme and the Motability Foundation.”
