Wera Hobhouse, Liberal Democrat MP for Bath, has presented keys for a Motability Scheme vehicle to Rose, a local constituent.
The car handover took place at Mon Motors Volkswagen dealership on Friday 14 March.
“So lucky and blessed”
The Motability Scheme, delivered by Motability Operations, has been invaluable to Rose and her late husband Martin, who also used the Motability Scheme until he sadly passed away.
She said: "I am so lucky and blessed to have a Motability Scheme car. I don’t know what I would do without it. It is so important for me to be able to get out."
“Many hours of convenience, freedom and independence”
Wera Hobhouse, MP for Bath said: “It’s been a pleasure to hand over the keys to a new Motability Scheme vehicle to Mrs White and wish her many hours of convenience, freedom and independence in it.
“Congratulations to the Motability Scheme on yet another local happy customer and for continuing to champion accessible transport for all.
“I also commend the Motability Scheme for their work with government around the UK’s transition to electric vehicles, supporting them in the vital Zero Emissions Vehicles mandate targets, and the Motability Foundation for working to remove barriers to accessibility across the public EV charging network.
“I wish the Motability Foundation every success as they continue to drive research and navigate innovation so that all disabled people can make the journeys they choose.”
“Disabled people often struggle to make journeys”
Nigel Fletcher, CEO of the Motability Foundation, added: “We are delighted to be here in Bath at Mon Motors Volkswagen. There are 16 million disabled people in the UK, making up more than one fifth of the population.
“However, disabled people often struggle to make journeys due to a lack of access to transport and accessible transport options and today, together with Motability Operations we celebrate the independence the Motability Scheme provides for Rose.
“I want to thank Rose for being here today to highlight the difference a Motability Scheme vehicle can make to disabled people’s lives. We are also grateful to Wera Hobhouse MP for her support of the Motability Scheme and the Motability Foundation.”
